Our First Church Plant Prayer
We gathered as a church for the first of two Church Plant Prayer on the afternoon of 2 August. In his series on church planting, Pastor Ryan emphasised the importance of prayer. From Acts 13, we note Luke’s emphasis on prayer and learn that healthy churches are praying churches, and Ryan also encouraged us to do likewise; whether God may be leading us to send or to go, to gather together to pray.
At the Church Plant Prayer, we began with a time of singing, and Ryan led us through a short devotion on Psalm 127:1a, which says “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Without God, all our plans and efforts are vanity. God is the one who is building His church and we can rest in Him and trust Him to act. We had a time of corporate prayer reflecting on and praying this verse together.
There was also a time for us to break into small groups to pray. Here are the prayer points:
For the church plant
For God to raise up a team who would go and plant
That those who go would seek the good of those who stay
For wisdom in making plans
For humility to submit our plans before the Lord
For wisdom to know where in the West we should plant
For the provision of a suitable, affordable meeting space
For the Lord to provide elders and deacons
For Grace Baptist Church
For God to strengthen those who would stay and send
That those who stay would seek the good of those who go
For God to raise up more people to serve in various ways
For great joy in sending, even despite the cost
For the city
For God to open the hearts of those whom the plant will reach
For God to give us boldness in evangelism
For many people to hear and believe the gospel
For the plant to partner well with other churches in the city
For the nations
For different kinds of people to be reached, even here in Singapore
For God to use the church plant to raise up more missionaries
For the plant and GBC to partner together in advancing the gospel
Members, let us continue to pray individually, in your families, small groups and when you gather with one another!
Save the date and let us gather for the next Church Plant Prayer on 4 October from 2-3pm in the Sanctuary.
