Family Dedication (December 2025)
Here at GBC, we hold Family Dedications at various times in the year. We held our last Family Dedication for 2025 at our 28 December service!
Pastor Jeremy reminded us that our Heavenly Father loves children. Jesus too, shows us how precious children are. Even at the end of a long, tiring day of ministry, He told His disciples to let the children come to Him. Here at grace, we also thank God for the gifts of children and seek to steward this gift well.
Family Dedication does not add or contribute to the salvation of our children, but it is a great opportunity for parents and the church to come together and express before the Lord our thankfulness and commitment to raise the next generation in a way that is pleasing to Him.
Family Dedication expresses the commitments found in passages like Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6, that exhort us to raise children to love God and walk in His ways. We had four families come to commit to teaching the next generation about our wondrous Lord and Saviour.
They are:
the Lowes — Joshua, Tiffany, Theophilus, Tabitha and baby Judah
The Queks — Nicholas, Aurelia, and baby Abraham
The Tans — Bryan, Miracle Grace and Baby Zion
The Tans — Martin, Genieve and baby Joshua
Pastor Jeremy gave these families time to introduce themselves to the church. The families were then invited to make their commitments before the church, and with God’s strength, to raise and disciple their children.
As a church, members responded by pledging to help them – to share our lives with them, encourage them and partner them in their endeavours to raise these children.
Pastor Jeremy led the church in prayer. He thanked God for revealing Himself to the parents and how we have salvation in His name. He prayed that these parents will raise their children in a way that pleases God. Though it can be overwhelming at times, Pastor Jeremy prayed that God will grant these parents strengths to get through each day, and to be able to remember God’s goodness and grace. He also prayed that the parents will trust God for all things, even the health of their children.
It is indeed, a precious opportunity that God has given these parents to showcase sacrificial love to each other, and to their children. We prayed that God will help them to press on build each other up, and that God will guard their marriages.
Pastor Jeremy closed by praying for these babies, as well as the children in our church, that they will hear, know and through the power of the Spirit, believe in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We also prayed that as a church, we will grow in our love for families, be sacrificial and be willing to be inconvenienced for the sake of welcoming more little ones in our presence. He also led us to pray that we. will grow in our desire for the lost, and to faithfully teach the next generation God’s truths. We pray especially for the Sunday School teachers — those who have faithfully served in 2025, and those who have committed to teach in 2026 — that God will be their strength and source of joy. May we also, as a church, continue to model God’s transforming gospel, for the glory of God.
We thank God for the ways He has provided for our families, and for us as a church family. Let us continue to trust God and be strengthened by Him as we seek to love one another faithfully in the new year ahead.
