Family Dedication (June 2025)

We held a Family Dedication at our 29 June service!

Unlike the ordinance of baptism, Family Dedication is a way for parents to commit to raising their children in a way that honours and pleases the Lord by expressing the commitments that are found in Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6. These passages exhorts parents (and the church family) to teach the next generation to love God, treasure His truth and walk in His ways.

We had two families participate in this Dedication:

  • the Teos – Lloyd, Theresa, Naomi and baby Heidi

  • the Yaps – Joshua, Liane, Nathan and baby Seth

Pastor Jeremy gave time to the families to share why they chose these names for their children, before they made their commitments before the church to raise and disciple their children.

The church was also invited to respond by pledging to help them. As a church family, we too, are to share our lives with them, encourage them and partner them in their endeavours to raise these children.

Pastor Jeremy also prayed for these families and parents in our church. He thanked God for His good gift of families, and the salvation of these parents. He prayed that God will empower them and strengthen them to be able to parent well, especially amidst the busyness of life. Pastor Jeremy prayed that they will continue to remember what is the most important – to proclaim Christ and model His love.

He also led the church to pray for these children, and the other children at GBC, that God will open hearts and minds to help them see the value of His truths. As a church too, he prayed that we may grow in our love and support for families, that we may show sacrificial love to one another. May we have a desire to hold out God’s truth and persevere in doing so, especially during our weekly Sunday School sessions.

Our growing Children’s Ministry is currently looking for more Sunday School Teachers and Nursery Volunteers. If you are keen to find out more, do contact the Children’s Ministry team at kidsmin@gracebaptistchurch.sg or stop by the check-in table outside the Sanctuary before Service.
