Recap of Members' Meeting (11 January 2026)

We held our first Members’ Meeting of the year on 11 January 2026. At this meeting, we welcomed new members, heard of updates about some of our members and learnt about other updates in our church life.

Introduction & Opening Prayer

We held our first Members’ Meeting of the year on 11 January 2026. It was held on level 2 and we thank God for good weather and relatively cool morning, to allow the meeting venue to be slightly more comfortable. Elder Toshi opened the meeting with prayer.

Membership Matters

Members coming in

Pastor Jeremy introduced those who are seeking to join GBC as members. The elders who did their elder chat  introduced them to the members by sharing their conversion and subsequent growth in the faith, and why they are recommending them to the members for the church’s affirmation. Members could also ask any questions before they affirmed each candidate by a show of hands. At this Meeting, we welcomed 4 by transfer and 6 by baptism. We welcomed by transfer, Cher Wen Qi, Asiwome Belinda Kpor, Kimberley Cham and Tan Wei Ren. We also welcomed the following members pending their baptism – Gina Chua, Jonathan Lau, Linda Low, Beatrice Sanders, Jared Sanders and Shina Tan.

The church heartily affirmed these new members. Pastor Jeremy also led all the members to recite the Members’ Covenant as a reminder of our commitment to one another as members of this local church.

We thank God for these new members and pray that as a church, we will let us continue to get to know and pray for one another. All members can request for a copy of the Membership Directory (as well as all subsequent updates) from here, or access this link via the “For Members” page on our website. We also have name tags that we hope can help us get to know one another. REquest for one here

Members transferring out

Pastor Jeremy shared about those who are requesting a transfer to other churches. Some of them had also written a short note to be shared, and Pastor Jeremy read their notes out. Members were given the chance to ask questions, before affirming their transfers. We are sad to have to part ways with them for now, but we are glad that they have found another gospel-preaching church to be a part of to love and serve. Church, let us continue to pray that those who have moved to other churches will continue to grow where God has called them to be.

Praying for non-attending members

Pastor Jeremy also shared about non-attending members who have not been at our services and the elders have also tried to reach out and not received any reply. The elders are sharing these names so that we can reach out to them if we know them, and all of us can keep them in prayer. Please write to the office or speak with the elders if you would like to find out more, or if you would like to share any updates.

Personnel Transitions

Pastor Eugene came up to share about some personnel transitions. Firstly, our Ministry Worker for Young Adults, Joshua Lowe, has completed his contract with the church and has now returned to a secular job. This took effect from 1 January 2026. Joshua, Tiffany and their family will continue to be members who love and serve the church at GBC.

Secondly, Nicholas Chuan who was on the Traineeship programme from July to November 2025 will continue his Traineeship for the first half of 2026. As a Ministry Trainee, he will focus mainly on the Young Adults’ ministry. In this period, he will continue his work as a campus ministry worker. Nicholas shared that the church can pray for him as he adjusts to the various work demands during this period and to continue to pray for his marriage with Dinnie. Pray also that God will grow a in him, a bigger heart for ministry.

We thank God for providing members who are willing to obey God in this way – serving His church in a full-time capacity. Pastor Eugene led the church to pray for both Nicholas and Joshua as they trust God during this period of adjustments and changes.

Missions

Pastor Ryan shared that the elders had agreed to commission Hannah as our missionary. Hannah has been on our Missions Traineeship programme in 2025 and spent the past five months on an overseas field experience in a Southeast Asian city.

Ryan invited Hannah to come up to share briefly about her experience. Hannah has been back since end-December, and will spend the next two months in SIngapore, before heading back to the same city. She shared how she saw God’s hand at work, providing for her at every step of the way. The city that she was at was not one she knew of prior to the traineeship, and found out about the work there through another GBC member. She felt homesick at times, but God also brought friends and a good language teacher. She also saw how God used her experience in GBC to bless the church, and she was able to read the Bible, a Christian book and also help out with the youths.

Hannah also shared that she is glad to be back for now. She has been spiritually encouraged and strengthened by the preaching, and thankful to be hearing God’s word taught in English. She looks forward to going back in February, and she requested the church to pray that she will build up people and not focus merely on finishing tasks.

If you would like to hear more about Hannah’s work and ways to support and pray for her, join her at a Q&A on 1 February after service.

Ministry Plans

Pastor Eugene then shared some ministry plans. We will be finishing up our series in Haggai, and then beginning a new series in Ephesians.

Some of the staff will also be heading to the Healthy Churches Asia Conference in February. This is a time to gather and learn with missionaries, church planters, pastors, ministry workers in the region.

As a church, we will also be hosting a number of conferences this year – Spurgeon the Pastor in May and a Women’s Conference in July. We also hope to host the Weekender from 10 to 13 September!

Finally, Pastor Jeremy also came up to share about the upcoming EQUIP Training Day on 31 January. EQUIP wil take the form of 4 Training Days on Saturdays in 2026. Running from 9 to 12.30pm, each session will begin with an “Ask Anything” session, before breaking out into 5 separate tracks. There will also be a children’s track for those aged 3 to 12 years old that morning, and childminding for those aged 0 to 3. Find out more and sign up here by 25 January, to help us with the planning.

Closing Prayer

Elder Toshi brought the meeting to a close by praying for our plans and that through it all, we will continue to be built up together as a church.
