Recap of Members' Meeting (8 March 2026)

We held our Members’ Meeting on 8 March 2026. At this meeting, we welcomed new members, heard of updates about some of our members and learnt about other updates in our church life.

Introduction & Opening Prayer

We held our Members’ Meeting on 8 March 2026. Elder Toshi opened the meeting with prayer.

Membership Matters

Members coming in

Participating in membership matters together.

Pastor Jeremy introduced those seeking to join GBC as members. The elders who did their elder chat introduced these individuals to the members present by sharing their conversion and subsequent growth in the faith, and why they are recommending them to the members for the church’s affirmation. Members have also received a copy of their testimonies prior to the meeting. At this Meeting, members could also ask any questions before they affirmed each candidate by a show of hands.

We welcomed 9 new members – 2 by baptism, 4 by transfer and 3 by statement. Pastor Jeremy took some time to explain what these different categories are. If a candidate has not been baptized as a believer, we accept them upon baptism and if a candidate has membership at another church, they join us by transfer. This third category – by statement – is when a candidate has been baptized as a believer but does not hold membership in another church. We welcomed by transfer, Mdm Kwan, Renee Tai, Benjamin Tan and Chinedum Nwuzor. Members who joined us by transfer were Bernice Wong, Cheryl Tan and Caleb Wong. We also welcomed the following members pending their baptism – Adeline Tham and Rachel Wong.

The church heartily affirmed these new members. Pastor Jeremy also led all the members to recite the Members’ Covenant as a reminder of our commitment to one another as members of this local church.

Members of the church recited the Members’ Covenant together!

We thank God for these new members and pray that as a church, we will let us continue to get to know and pray for one another. All members can request for a copy of the Membership Directory (as well as all subsequent updates) from here, or access this link via the “For Members” page on our website. We also have name tags that we hope can help us get to know one another and you can request for one here

Members transferring out

Pastor Jeremy shared about those who are requesting a transfer to other churches. Members were given the chance to ask questions, before affirming their transfers. Church, let us continue to pray that those who have moved to other churches will continue to grow where God has called them to be.

Praying for non-attending members

Pastor Jeremy also shared about non-attending members who have not been at our services for more than a year. The elders have also tried to reach out. We have been sharing the names of the members at the previous 3 meetings and have been encouraging us to pray for them. However, they have not indicated any desire to return to worship with us. Thus, the elders recommend that they be removed, pending the members’ affirmation of this. It was with a heavy heart that this was presented to the members, and there was also a time for questions from the members or a chance for them to share any new information for consideration.

Pastor Jeremy also continued to encourage all members to pray and for those that have a relationship with them to reach out to them in love. Pastor Jeremy led the church to pray at the end of this section.

Members, please speak with the elders if you would like to find out more about this or if you have any questions and concerns.

Missions

Pastor Ryan gave an update on one of our supported missionaries. Ryan also shared that we do these updates at Members’ Meeting to affirm that all of us are doing the work of missions together. Missions is not a side project by some people, but is what we all do, even through our membership in this church.

Pastor Ryan also encouraged members who are interested in doing a short-term trip to speak with him. There are a couple of opportunities available and he would love to match members with these opportunities.

Ministry Plans

Pastor Eugene then shared some ministry plans. We will be continuing our sermon series in Ephesians for the next two months.

As a church, we will also be hosting a number of conferences this year, and more details/sign ups will follow soon:

  • Spurgeon the Pastor (22-24 May)

  • Women’s Conference on Sanctification (9am-3.30pm on 25 July)

We also hope to host the Weekender from 10 to 13 September! We are also starting signups for our Traineeship which will take place from July to November this year. Anyone who is interested can speak with Pastor Eugene.

Our next Training Day will be on 9 May from 9 to 12.30pm. It will begin with an “Ask Anything” session, before breaking out into 5 separate tracks. Our children will also continue their children’s track, “God always wins” for those aged 3 to 12 years old. Childminding will also be available for those aged 0 to 3. Read more about the previous Training Day and sign up for the next one by 3 May to help us with the planning.

Pastor Jeremy also thanked the volunteers for helping with the children at the previous Training Day, and encouraged more members to serve at the next Training Day. This will allow our volunteers to take turns serving. Anyone who is interested can speak with Siew Ting or Jeremy.

Elders and Deacons Updates

Deacon Kagen shared how the church can be praying for him.

We are grateful for how God raises servants to serve among us. Pastor Eugene recognised some elders and a deacon that have served their term and will be stepping off for a well-deserved break. Elders Jonathan and Nehemiah will be stepping off as elders on 31 March while Deacon Kagen stepped down as our Deacon of Young Adults’ ministry on 28 February. They shared briefly about their experience and how we can be praying for them.  Kagen shared that he has been thankful for this opportunity to serve. The church can keep praying for him in a challenging season of work and as he looks ahead to some changes. We can also continue to pray for the young adults in the church, that they will keep growing in the Lord.

Elders Jonathan and Nehemiah shared prayer requests with the church.

For Elder Nehemiah, pray for a time of rest and also that he will be faithful. Likewise, for Jonathan, he looks forward to a time of rest and seeks to remain as a faithful member of the church. Pastor Eugene then led the church to pray for Nehemiah, Jonathan and Kagen.

Pastor Eugene also provided some staff updates.

Closing Prayer

Elder Toshi brought the meeting to a close with a prayer. Members also stayed back to have lunch together and also took the time to get to know one another.

Members, let us continue to keep one another in prayer, and also trust God to build up the church as we study Ephesians together.

Our next Members’ Meeting will be on 10 May. See you there!
