Baptisms and Transfers – 15 March 2026
We baptised and welcomed Rachel and Adeline at our 15 March 2026 service. Members of GBC had voted to receive them, and seven others by transfer or statement at the Members’ Meeting on 8 March.
Pastor Ryan read from Romans 6:3–5
Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Baptism is a sign of the new covenant ordained by Jesus and it pictures our union with Christ by faith in Him. @hen we place our faith in Him, our old self is put to death, washed and we are made alive together with Him by the power of His resurrection.
Adeline grew up in a Christian family and was surrounded by Christian teaching and community. She shared how her faith journey was not marked by a sudden turning point, but God had been working steadily in her life over time:
Looking back, I see how God has been moulding me into greater Christ-likeness. He has been teaching me repentance. Turning away from self-reliance, pride, and misplaced priorities and turning back to Him daily. He showed me that following Him is not about external service alone, but about inward surrender. Even when I was inconsistent, He remained faithful. Even when my priorities were misplaced, He patiently drew me back. He first saved me, bore my sins and reassured me of forgiveness and a transformed life.
For Rachel, God used difficulties and challenges in life to draw her closer to Him:
Just like how God cares and provides for even the plants and birds, God loves and values each and every one of us. And I will not fear, for He is with me. Having recognized my sin, I am thankful for God’s grace and have come to believe in Jesus's death and resurrection for the forgiveness of my sins.
For me to live is Christ, to die is gain. I want to love Him, obey Him, trust in Him and glorify Him in all the days of my life.
At the end of the service, these new members, as well as the others who joined us by transfer and statement — Mdm Kwan, Renee, Benjamin, Chinedum Nwuzor (Sam), Bernice, Cheryl and Caleb — presented to the church.
(From L to R): Mdm Kwan, Adeline, Rachel, Benjamin and Bernice. Sam, Renee, Cheryl and Caleb were unable to be present at the service.
