Thanksgiving and Installation of Elders
At our 17 August 2025 service, we acknowledged the service of Mok Chuan-Xin, who stepped off as our Director with effect from 31 July 2025. Chuan-Xin had served as our elder and director.
Thanksgiving for Chuan-Xin
During the service, Pastor Eugene took the opportunity to thank him for serving us as an elder and director. Chuan-Xin was given the chance to share with the church ways we can be keeping him in prayer.
He requested prayer that he continue to use his time wisely now that some time has been freed up. Pray that he will be able to spend time with and wisely shepherd the family.
Installation of Lup Meng
We also installed our new elder, Lam Lup Meng, who will also be taking on the role as Director. Pastor Eugene invited Lup Meng to share ways the church can continue to be praying for him. He thanked his family for their support and allowing him to take on these roles again for another term (after previously serving for six years). He requested prayer that he can continue to spiritually lead the family. We can also pray for wisdom and humility as he seeks to serve God in this new role as a Director.
Pastor Eugene led Lup Meng to recite the Elder Vows before the congregation. He reaffirmed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, and believes that Scripture is the Word of God — “totally trustworthy, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and the supreme, final, and only infallible rule of faith and practice”. He believes in the church’s Statement of Faith and Members’ Covenant, subscribes to the government and discipline of the church, and promised to submit to fellow elders in the Lord. As an elder, he pledges to be faithful and diligent in his duties with God’s help.
Members were given a chance to respond too. As a church, we acknowledged and publicly received Lup Meng as an elder, a gift of Christ to this church. We committed to loving and praying for him, working together with him and the other elders, and also to honour and support the elders, to the glory of God.
Our elders then laid hands on Lup Meng as Elder Toshi led the church in prayer. We thank God for his willingness to answer God’s call to serve in this way, and pray that God will grant him wisdom, courage and humility to serve others as Christ did. We also pray for a deep and abiding love for God’s Word and His people. We pray that God will strengthen him for the task ahead and guard his heart and mind and protect his family.
Toshi also thanked God for Chuan-Xin’s faithful service, and the ways that God has gifted him to serve and love the church. He thanked God for Chuan-Xin’s contagious passion for God and exuberant shepherding heart for the members here at GBC. We are also thankful for the many personal sacrifices that Chuan-Xin and his family has made for this church and for the glory of God’s name and pray that he will enjoy a season of deep rest and spiritual refreshment as he steps off from this role.
Finally, we also pray that God will work in the hearts of our members and raise more who seek to and are growing in the Word, and loving each other as Christ first loved us. We also commit our entire church into the sovereign and loving hands of our God.
Church, if you see Chuan-Xin, Lup Meng and their families around, continue to encourage them and check in on them!
