Family Dedication (May 2026)
We held Family Dedications at our 31 May service.
Pastor Jeremy led the Family Dedication and reminded us that children are a gift from God. Our Lord Jesus also welcomed the children to Himself.
Unlike baptism and the Lord’s Supper, Family Dedication is not an ordinance that was instituted by Jesus and it certainly is not for our salvation. However, it is a good opportunity for parents and the church to come together as we commit to raising the next generation in a way that pleases God. During the Family Dedication, the families express the commitments found in passages like Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6, that exhort us to raise children to love God, walk in His ways and find their hope in Him.
We had three families come to commit to teaching the next generation about our wondrous Lord and Saviour:
Wayne, Andreia and baby Ava
Jian Yang, Marilyn and baby Kieran
Einson, Stephanie and baby Joseph
The families introduced themselves and were then invited to make their commitments before the church to raise and disciple their children with God’s strength. As a church, members also responded by pledging to help them – to share our lives with them, encourage them and partner them in their endeavours to raise these children.
Pastor Jeremy led the church in prayer. He thanked God for His great love for us, creating us in His image and placing us in families and communities. He thanked God for the faith of these parents and blessing them with these little ones, and prayed that God will sustain them for the task ahead. We pray that the will be able to model for their children God’s sac lies, and parents who reflect His love and grace to their children.
Pastor Jeremy closed by praying for these babies, as well as the children in our church, that God will be gracious and give them understanding as they sit through Sunday School lessons and hear their parents read the Bible to them, that God will also grant them the faith to respond.
Church, we can all partner alongside families to teach our children in Sunday School. Our Children’s Ministry is always looking for more Sunday School Teachers and Nursery Volunteers. If you are keen to find out more, feel free to contact the Pastor Jeremy or Siew Ting or the Children’s Ministry team at kidsmin@gracebaptistchurch.sg or stop by the check-in table outside the Sanctuary before Service.
