Women’s Conference: Sanctification
We are a week away from the Women’s Conference!
The theme and the focus of the conference is on the doctrine of sanctification. This is an important doctrine for every Christian and we often hear about it spoken of in sermons, books etc.
But, what is sanctification? What is the goal of sanctification and how does it affect our life today? Maybe for some of us, this process of becoming more like Christ and growing in holiness is so slow and difficult, that we get discouraged before seeing fruit. We wonder why we struggle with sin even after we are saved.
Indeed, sanctification is a slow process, but the outcome is worth it. We are also not left alone to figure things out, for God is also graciously at work in our sanctification. As the Puritan John Owen describes it, "The growth of trees and plants takes place so slowly that it is not easily seen. Daily we notice little change. But, in course of time, we see that a great change has taken place. So it is with grace. Sanctification is a progressive, lifelong work (Prov 4:18). It is an amazing work of God's grace and it is a work to be prayed for (Rom 8:27)."
Come … and learn
Through the talks and workshop at this conference, we hope that women can learn more about the basis for our sanctification, the goal of our sanctification and what it means for our lives today. We will also learn about how we grow, not just individually, but together as a church. There will also be a chance to learn about the role of disciplines such as prayer and Scripture meditation in the Christian’s life!
Ladies, it is also a wonderful opportunity to hear sisters in Christ teach God’s word. Our speakers — Beverly Berrus and Ruth Lee — love God and His word, and have a passion for helping other women to know God through His word. We pray that you will be blessed as you hear them teach on this topic!
Come … and meet other ladies
This is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other ladies from GBC and also from other churches! Sundays can feel rushed and even overwhelming for some of us. We hope that this time of learning is another platform for meeting other ladies in the church.
We also have ladies from other churches at this conference. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to show hospitality, and also encourage fellow sisters in Christ from other local churches in Singapore and beyond. We hope that this conference can also equip and encourage them to return and build up their own local churches.
Come … and bring a friend
This is also a great opportunity to invite a friend along! Is there a sister that you hope to encourage in the faith? Maybe it is someone in your CG, or a younger/older woman that you have met in church? Consider inviting her along, and use this conference as a means of catalysing gospel conversations. If you require some form of financial assistance, reach out to Carrie or Bibianna or anyone of the elders.
Church, could you keep this conference in prayer? Pray for:
The speakers, Beverly and Ruth as they prepare for the talks and that they will hold out God’s word clearly and boldly
The hearts of the women who are attending to be soft and ready to hear God’s word.
God to remove obstacles that can hinder the women from attending
The church to be built up as women grow in holiness
Ladies, hope to see you! Brothers, you can encourage the women around you to attend.
