Maureen Koh was one of the helpers at our recent youth camp. It was her first time serving, and also the first time at a youth camp. She shares her experience as a helper, what she learnt from serving and ways the church can continue to trust God to work among our youth.

For a couple of years now, a group of GBC members have been reaching out to the residents and staff at Gladiolus Place through a monthly dinner. Moreen Tai has been helping out, and shares with us what they have been doing, and how God has been working in the hearts of our members, as well as ways we can support the ministry in prayer.

Ng Han Kiat from Leng Kwang Baptist Church took part in our Traineeship Programme from July to November this year. He gives thanks for the traineeship and reflects on how it has been a sanctifying process for him.

On 1 November, the Women’s Ministry held their Women of Grace event. Usually held once to twice a year, the Women of Grace event aims to bring together women of GBC for a time of equipping and mutual encouragement. 

This year, the theme was “Side by Side” and we invited a guest speaker, Elizabeth Baruah, to speak to the ladies.

On 1 November, our ladies held their Women of Grace event. This focused on how women in the church can walk side by side to strengthen, counsel and encourage one another to persevere in the faith and remain steadfast in the Lord. Here is a list of books and resources that were recommended at this event.

We recently held a Men’s Seminar and one of Liew Jun Tung shares some takeaways with us.

John 15:5 calls us to abide in Christ the true vine, in order to bear fruit. Emily Seck encourages us with her artwork of the cucumber vine — a plant that grows best when it clings to a support.

Emily Seck shares how the palm lily encouraged her to consider the new life that we have in Christ. John 11:25-26 speaks of Jesus as the resurrection and the life. This is our hope for the future, when He returns, but also for today.

Emily Seck shares how the morning glory, which tends to ground around doorways, reminds her of Jesus’ words and how He is the one through whom we find salvation and eternal life.

The plants around us remind us that God created the world and is still in control. Emily Seck shares how the sunflower and starfruit influenced her artwork, and how these plants can be visual reminders to turn to Jesus, who is the light of the world.

At our 13 July Members’ Meeting, the elders introduced 3 men who are joining the elders as Elder Associates. Over the next nine to ten months as Elder Associates, they will learn about what it means to shepherd and be an elder.

We have 5 trainees joining us for the Ministry Traineeship programme in 2025. 4 of them are our members, and 1 is a member of Leng Kwang Baptist Church.

Every Sunday, the worship team works tirelessly and often behind the scenes to ensure that the whole service runs smoothly. The Worship Ministry is looking for members who can volunteer to serve in a couple of areas.

The Women’s Ministry conducted their first ever Open House on 6 April 2025. Anna Yap, known to many of us as “Mimi”, who helped to prepare for it, shares this Open House. 

Emily Seck used the palm trees from the Arecaceae family as her inspiration for illustrating John 3:16.

Tiang Siew Ting is no stranger to many in GBC, especially our families and children who are in Sunday School. Here, she shares a bit more about her work and how she has seen God at work over the years.
