Women’s Ministry Open House 2026
We held our Women’s Ministry Open House on 26 April 2026. The goal of this Open House was for the church — men and women alike — to learn more about ministry that has been going on among the women of GBC.
This Open House took the form of different women’s groups and representatives sharing about what they did. We had women sharing about:
Mums Connect
Wednesday Bible Study
Friday Bible Study
Precept
Gladiolus Place Outreach
Filipina Ministry and Outreach
Counselling training
Discipling
Each group had their own “booth” and it was encouraging to see how each group enthusiastically took ownership. Some prepared sample materials and stickers, others did up a slideshow, and everyone was very excited to share about what they did. This is a testimony to how ministry is being done by the women of the church, who are of different ages, backgrounds, nationalities etc but are united in Christ.
Here at GBC, we hope that the women’s ministry exists as part of the larger church, and desire to build up women so that they can build up others. This takes the form of formal discipling and training platforms, such as some of the Bible Study groups that meet in the week, adhoc training groups, and also the regular, twice a year “Women of Grace” Events. The outreach opportunities such as with Gladiolus Place and the Filipina Ministry also encourage our women to hold out the gospel to those outside our church and the sojourners in our midst.
We also encourage ministry through other informal means — one-to-one reading with another sister who lives nearby or who works nearby, meeting to encourage another through prayer etc.
We hope that through formal and informal means, the women of GBC can be better equipped to study and apply God’s word. Doing so with other women allows them to practice discipleship as envisioned in Titus 2. In some instances, meeting with other sisters helps foster relationships where they can wisely address issues and struggles better dealt with in a smaller, gendered setting.
Church, we hope that through this Open House, the church is encouraged by the ways that the Spirit is at work among our women. Brothers, you can encourage the sisters in the church! As pastor Eugene mentioned in his sermon, husbands, afford your wives time to learn and meet with other ladies. Brothers, continue to pray for the women, that we will follow Jesus faithfully and build up the church, that we may all grow into maturity.
Ladies, let us press on, and continue to seek to follow Jesus, and help another sister do so! If you are keen to connect with another sister and are not sure how to, drop Carrie or Bibs a message. If you’d like to join any of the groups mentioned, you can also indicate your interest here. We also plan to hold another training based on the book, “How People Change” in the second half of 2026 — interested ladies can sign up here.
May these verses in Titus 2:11-14 be our encouragement: “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”
