Family Dedication (March 2026)
We held our first Family Dedication of 2026 at our 29 March service.
Pastor Jeremy led the Family Dedication and reminded us that though it is not an ordinance, it is a great opportunity for us to come together as a church to give thanks to the Lord and to commit ourselves to raise the next generation in a way that is pleasing to Him. During the Family Dedication, the families express the commitments found in passages like Deuteronomy 6 and Ephesians 6, that exhort us to raise children to love God, walk in His ways and find their hope in Him. We had three families come to commit to teaching the next generation about our wondrous Lord and Saviour.
They are:
the Ows — David, Xiumin, John, TImothy, Caleb and baby Ezra
The Phuas — Kia Qian, Felice and baby Emmett
The Sungs — Andrew, Esther, Elliot, Aiden and baby Emmeline
The families introduced themselves and were then invited to make their commitments before the church to raise and disciple their children with God’s strength. As a church, members also responded by pledging to help them – to share our lives with them, encourage them and partner them in their endeavours to raise these children.
Pastor Jeremy led the church in prayer. He thanked God for the good gift of families, and parents who reflect His love and grace to their children. He prayed that God will strengthen the parents of GBC that He will enable them to live out His exhortations to raise the next generation in a God-pleasing and honouring way. Parenting is also difficult and demanding, and Pastor Jeremy prayed that God will strengthen these parents and help them to find their strength and rest in Christ.
Pastor Jeremy closed by praying for these babies, as well as the children in our church, that God will be gracious and give them understanding as they sit through Sunday School lessons and hear their parents read the Bible to them, that God will also grant them the faith to respond.
Church, we can all partner alongside families to teach our children in Sunday School. Our Children’s Ministry is always looking for more Sunday School Teachers and Nursery Volunteers. If you are keen to find out more, feel free to contact the Pastor Jeremy or Siew Ting or the Children’s Ministry team at kidsmin@gracebaptistchurch.sg or stop by the check-in table outside the Sanctuary before Service.
