Mercia Tan joined our traineeship after graduating from university this past July. It has been a fruitful and encouraging time for her, and she shares some of her takeaways from the past few months.

On 1 November, our ladies held their Women of Grace event. This focused on how women in the church can walk side by side to strengthen, counsel and encourage one another to persevere in the faith and remain steadfast in the Lord. Here is a list of books and resources that were recommended at this event.

Nicholas Chuan is a campus ministry worker, and he also had the chance to be on our Traineeship. He shares how this Traineeship experience has shaped and aided his work.

Lois Yong shares how this book has been useful to apply the gospel to a particular lesson and situation that parents and children will encounter — the sin of lying. She shares how it does not just talk about the pitfalls of lying, but also models how the gospel can be applied to this situation and obeyed.

Fidelia Kuek reviews this series that she has found useful to counsel and help children process their emotions and responses in different situations.

Han Lim was a part of the Missions Reading Group and shares this review of the book “God’s Smuggler”, which the group read together. She shares how she was encouraged to love, treasure and delight in God’s word and to continue to trust Him.

In the month of April and May, we embarked on a 4-week series titled, “God’s Design for Men and Women”. Pastor Andrew helped us to see the glorious mystery of marriage. A Spirit-filled marriage displays the relationship between Christ and His Church.

Some of us may be familiar with Pilgirm’s Progress, the classic by John Bunyan. Cecilia Kang reviews and shares with us about an adapted and illustrated version, Little Pilgrim’s Progress, that is suitable for children.

This December, we have been seeking to make available resources and opportunities for church members to share the gospel with those around them. At our services, we have been giving away a copy of these books by the late Timothy Keller — The Reason for God and Making Sense of God.
